The Alabama Fatherhood Initiative

The Fatherhood Initiative is a joint effort of the Department of Human Resources (DHR) Child Support Enforcement and Family Assistance programs. The Fatherhood Initiative was developed to further the welfare reform goal of strengthening families, to enhance child support collections, and to address other needs of children who are growing up without the involvement of natural fathers in their lives.

The Alabama Central Disbursement Division (ACDD) is a newly created division that was established as a result of federal and state law, known as the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. This law required a single location in each state to which employers could send wage withheld child support payments to be processed.

Child Support services are automatically provided to persons currently receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families(TANF),Medicaid,or Foster Care. Other individuals may apply for child support services by making an appointment with any County Department of Human Resources office in Alabama.
