Mission Statement

To support the primary educational mission of the U.S. Military Academy by providing progressive and responsive information service, collections, and personnel which meet the study and research needs of cadets and instructors.

Reserve

  1. Instructors place material on reserve to provide maximum availability for all cadets in a given course.
  2. Library books, departmental library books, personal books, photocopied articles, solution notebooks, and other material may be placed on reserve. To place library materials on Reserve complete Form 1734; nonlibrary material form 1734a. A supply of these forms may be obtained from the circulation desk at the USMA Library.
  3. USMA Library books have three circulation options.
      They may:
    • Be used only in the Reserve Room (photocopying is allowed).
    • Be checked out after 2100 hours and returned by 0900 hours the following day.
    • Be checked out for a seven day period.
  4. *Non-library materials do not circulate. They must be used in the Reserve Room.
  5. Lists arranged by course number and instructors' name are available online as well as in paper format in the reserve room.

Interlibrary Loan

  1. Interlibrary loan is a resource sharing service which provides cadets, faculty and staff with published materials not owned by the USMA Library.
  2. Interlibrary loans may be requested by completing interlibrary loan request forms, obtained at the Reference Desk. Books, or journal articles may be requested and should be received by the USMA Library within 1 to 3 weeks.
  3. Every attempt is made to acquire Interlibrary loan material free of charge. If this is not possible, the patron is responsible for payment.
  4. When material is received, notification will be made via E-mail. Material may then be picked up at the circulation desk.
  5. Renewal requests must be made 3 days before the due date. All renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
  6. Interlibrary loans are provided through the courtesy of other libraries. This courtesy should be reciprocated through prompt return of borrowed items.
