Wrote column on the Think-Off. This year's topic: "if loving you is wrong, do I want to be right?" Or something like that. http://is.gd/er3M
This must be a 1st: got flamed in a Shorpy comment. People can be such *wonderful* creatures.
Semi-demi vacation mood still prevails. Weighing column ideas. Sifting through playlist of tonight's "jam session" - Neil Young. Ugh.
Sleep schedule completely destroyed by the holiday fortnight. I couldn't go to bed before 3 if you put Megan Fox at the top of the stairs.
Seeing Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park is always a surprise. The world's baddest computer programmer. Smokes 9 cigarettes per scene, too.
@StC Yes! That's the sound.
@harrymccracken Yes indeed - it's amusing to think of the Termite Terrace gang do-see-do'ing. Doubt Leon was invited.
@Mr_Fastbucks Yes, but the Kramden Hamana-hamana is a different style than the WB one. Diff. between shaking off a blow and a panic-stammer.
BTW, this is my fav Bugs bit. http://is.gd/eo74 Love it when the song changes key when Bugs takes over & kicks it into overdrive.
@sassone The RR probably had no recollection of anything that happened. The Coyote, OTOH, remembered all, and was constantly perfecting.
@sassone I don't think Roadrunner was cruel. Fate was cruel, and Fate sided with RR. The RR was stupid. Couldn't read, and proud of it.
Bless my child: she has more sympathy for Wile E. Coyote than the Roadrunner.
@AskMaridee the hamana-hamana sound was frequently uttered by charcters struck a severe cranial blow; can't really pin it down.
@ GLHoffman I walk past your sidewalk boxes everytime I go to the office. ;) (Can't DM unless you follow, BTW.)
At some point in the 60s, WB cartoons stopped using the hamana hamana FX; wonder which was the last cartoon to have it.
Listening to an old Orson Welles radio show. The guy's so good he sounds like he's wasting his talent in ANYTHING he does.
Just for fun, I've started contributing to Shorpy, the greatest site on the internet. http://www.shorpy.com/
@ markinct Alas, my DeSuckifier was custom built. If only it went up to 11.
Column is in. Ran this one through the DeSuckifier with the "bittersweet" and "nostalgic" filters turned off.
I beg to differ, Mac OS; this disk is not in use, and it can be ejected. It has no open files. It's not being indexed. Let my thumb drive GO
