Cheyenne - Lawmakers plan to meet this week to discuss a possible special legislative session on Gov. Freudenthal's state budget reductions. The governor has identified $232 million in spending reductions to the two-year budget that goes into effect July 1. The cuts are being instituted because of declining state revenue due to low natural gas prices. U.S. territory: Guam - A bill introduced Monday would allow Guam voters to decide if a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products should increase to $1.50 per item. About one out of every three people on Guam smoke cigarettes, giving the island the highest smoking rate in the USA, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The legislation would put the measure on the ballot in 2010.From wire reports
