TIBERI’S EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS RECOGNIZED BY COMMUNITY COLLEGES
OACC Names Tiberi “Friend of Community Colleges”
Washington,
Apr 24, 2007 -
U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) yesterday gratefully accepted the Friend of Community Colleges Award from the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) for his work advancing the causes of Community Colleges across the state.
“I am honored to be named a friend of community colleges,” said Congressman Tiberi. “Ohio has many great community and technical colleges that give students of all ages options when pursuing a career or furthering their educational experience. These quality institutions serve students from all demographics creating affordable and accessible opportunities.”
Columbus State Community College President Valeriana Moeller nominated Congressman Tiberi to receive this award. Congressman Tiberi helped establish a program at Columbus State to retrain manufacturing workers who would otherwise be displaced for high-tech jobs that are needed in today’s growing economy. The Friend of Community Colleges Award is the highest honor the OACC gives to non-trustees.
The OACC is an organization of independent public community and technical colleges that works to promote the continued quality, strength, and effectiveness of its member institutions.
Columbus State in Columbus and Central Ohio Technical College in Newark are members of the OACC that serve residents of the 12th District.
