- April 4, 1873 Carrie S. Burnham argued before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for her right to vote.
- March 9, 1841 The Supreme Court issued a ruling freeing the remaining 35 survivors of the Amistad mutiny.
- May 18, 1896 The Supreme Court ruled in Plessy v. Ferguson that separate-but-equal facilities were sufficient to satisfy the Fourteenth Amendment.
- June 14, 1943 The Supreme Court held that the First Amendment does not give authority to compel one to salute the American flag or to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
- October 2, 1967 Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as a Supreme Court justice.
