WASHINGTON, D.C. – Thanks to Florida’s senior U.S. senator, the Florida Keys stands to receive $3 million to help fight water contamination off their world-famous beaches. At the urging of Sen. Bill Nelson, the Senate Appropriations Committee this week approved the funds as part of an energy and water appropriations bill for next year.
The money will support planning, design and construction of treatment facilities to address water pollution in the Keys. The energy and water appropriations bill now moves to the full Senate for approval.
