Bipartisan Commemoration of the Declaration of Independence

On July 8 Senator Lieberman and Senator John Cornyn of Texas started a new bipartisan tradition to commemorate the Declaration of Independence. Senators presented famous speeches and writings that discussed the principles of the Declaration.

The Center for Civic Education

The Center for Civic Education specializes in civic/citizenship education, law-related education, and international educational exchange programs for developing democracies. Programs focus on the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights; American political traditions and institutions at the federal, state, and local levels; constitutionalism; civic participation; and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.

The National Service Learning Clearinghouse maintains a website with timely information and relevant resources to support service-learning programs, practitioners, and researchers. The Clearinghouse also operates national listservs for K-12 service-learning and higher education service-learning to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas.

C-SPAN for Students

C-Span for Students is a web site for social studies students that has downloadable and searchable video: Immediately usable video clips for social studies classes. A fully searchable database of C-SPAN video clips, with many available for download. Video clips and discussion questions are linked to national standards, and include primary source materials. New video clips are added regularly, and are searchable by keyword, speaker, or concept.
