Walz Announces Funding for Luverne Vets Home

Luverne, MN — Today, Congressman Tim Walz and the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), James B. Peake, M.D., are pleased to announce the award of a grant totaling $723,171 to the State Veterans Home in Luverne. The VA grant will help fund the addition of an Alzheimer’s/Dementia Unit at the State Veterans Home.
“This grant illustrates what is possible when the federal and state governments work together to serve the people,” said Walz. “Our country has a moral obligation to care for our veterans, whether it’s from the current conflict or from World War II, and the addition of an Alzheimer’s and Dementia Unit continues that commitment.”
This federal grant represents 65% of the anticipated cost of construction. The state has guaranteed the balance of necessary funding.
