Wow. This headline is a masterpiece: http://is.gd/c607 (via @radleybalko)
@neh: my review has already been published. I'll have a follow-up post next week that will give detailed look at my switch.
OpenSUSE even comes with a recent version of Eclipse, which Ubuntu has been failing to deliver since 7.04: http://is.gd/1JGx
OpenSUSE has more recent versions of the development frameworks and tools that I use. Ubuntu 8.10 doesn't come with Python 2.6 or Mono 2.0.
OpenSUSE 11.1 is perfect. I've been testing openSUSE consistently since 10.1 and this version has finally convinced me to switch from Ubuntu
How to enable Tango icons in Inkscape's user interface: http://is.gd/bIJU Much better!
@chrisblizzard: I haven't tested it with time machine. I mount it via NFS. Only major problem is that its admin UI is buggy in Firefox 3.
@foresmac: Python 3.0 is a minor improvement because it consolidates urllib and urllib2, which cleans up the API a little bit.
@clint: form uploading is not an edge case. :-P You shouldn't have to manually encode requests by hand every time you upload to Flickr.
Python's urllib2 is really crappy. It doesn't provide a way to monitor progress and it doesn't support multipart form uploads. PyCurl FTW.
@davidascher & @chrisblizzard: I have a ReadyNAS NV+ and I think it's a great product.
@timbray: Audacity is a decent cross-platform tool for that kind of basic audio editing.
@otnerak: I'm not sure when exactly I'm going to be moving yet. I might wait a few more months.
This is almost exactly what I was looking for: http://blog.programmableweb... It's the perfect complement for RRW. (Thanks @clint!)
I really like ReadWriteWeb. It's solid Web 2.0 coverage without the BS. I want something like this but more technical, with a focus on APIs.
@funkatron: if you can provide trend data that isn't already in search.twitter.com/trends.json then I think it would be useful.
@funkatron: yes, that would be useful to me.
@mark_k: thanks! I'm glad you like it. :-)
