moderate mental damage sustained at @sam_andrews party - in a good way. cheers sam.
@doesnottweetyet tell me you're not still in the office!
how the hell do open projects which take submissions via patch handle file renaming? anyone know?
how the hell have we still got a situation where centralised vcs can't handle serializing changes to a tree?
aaagh. bloody subversion. is handling renames in patches so hard? if you can't do it, don't do anything, rather than kill the old file!
@DaveRead yeah i took a look at that one earlier. the screenshots make me worry for usability. textbook developer UI!
@DaveRead yes indeed. we're on subversion and non-TFS, but a nice collaborative patch review tool seems like a good little niche for sure
@knowtheory that would be a generally useful bit of kit yeah! if you didn't need the scaling and just wanted to use the apps locally anyway
@knowtheory the ideal tool would essentially be rietveld, hostable internally, on a windows server!
@DaveRead yes something more along the lines of the web based review tool. upload patch for review > review online > collab > approve/deny
anyone aware of anything with none of these problems? if not, i appear to have found yet another xmas project/chore.
and finally there's commercial - but when sold on a per team member license, that's quickly a pricey proposition.
on the other hand, there's things like rietveld - but that means opening up svn to some extent - also a non starter.
that's actually pretty annoying. there's some good stuff out there with a lot of *nix dependencies. not a starter for a windows server co.
there seems to be a lack of open source code review tools for the .net world. particularly ones that work on patches, not commits.
oh god damnit, why would you have the xmas party on a wednesday? my brain is utterly scrambled.
prepping for the office party. it's masquerade themed but hiding your identity when having a beard seems pointless, so i'm not bothering
@mfeathers i suspect your hovercraft is actually full of угорь - where would you find english eels in russia?
Trying to focus between many candidate projects. Damn it, too many possibilities, all mind mapping tricks etc. doing nothing.
@kzu i'm not sure there's a parallel - WPF is a presentational markup format in itself - presentational rather than semantic, like HTML.
