Launched! A CC-licensed Browser Security Handbook by Google: http://tinyurl.com/66a5jy and http://tinyurl.com/6qaao3
Had a moment of inspiration; writing yet another app engine app, this one search related. Plan to launch by EoD today.
The OpenID Foundation board elections have begun. 17 great candidates nominated for the open seats. See http://tinyurl.com/6peza6
Enjoying the comments on the Native Client post. So many diverse and interesting opinions. What are yours? http://tinyurl.com/68pbbz
@mfinkle - I'd like to better understand your concerns. @chrisblizzard mentioned lack of "view source" in native code, but is there more?
@chrisblizzard Fast web apps depend on compiled JS that looks little different than byte code or object code. The jsvm is just a target.
@chrisblizzard Transparency as in view source? Modern JS is compiled and is no more "transparent." A better benchmark is free IP.
Nominations end tonight for the OpenID Foundation community board seats. 16 very strong candidates in the running. We all win.
@jeresig - I always say that C/C++ : GCC : ASM :: Java : GWT : JS. All abstractions leak, but not all abstractions are bad.
@jowyang Because @ev was already taken. But my favorite is @yes, who picked it accidentally by responding "yes" to my sms invite. #handle
Launched in Gmail Labs: Tasks - http://tinyurl.com/5mur3w. Big congrats to Michael and the team.
@DaveO Better Ajax+HTML5 is not an xor with other solutions, like NaCl. We're working our butts off on both fronts.
IMHO the browser has been a stagnant development platform for way too long. A good swift kick in the pants is just what it deserves.
@cwilso I'm all for just about anything that revs the client. Java, native code, better JS. Free Silverlight and I'll cheer for that too.
@pmuellr I don't feel this is an either/or scenario, but just part of the bigger trend toward the browser being a more powerful container.
@timbray JS is ubiquitous and we've seen amazing things done with it. But more language choice in the browser strikes me as a good thing.
Native Client - securely run x86 code in web apps. Seriously. http://tinyurl.com/5qzbcf and http://tinyurl.com/6bf6mr
30 minute app engine hack for running Markdown as a service: http://markdown-service.app...
Adding the 'rel' attribute and values to Url in OpenSearch Draft 4. See http://tinyurl.com/5pk6vx and http://tinyurl.com/5d4ha6.
