Celebration to be held during the Texas Library Association Conference in Houston

(You don't need to be registered for the conference to attend.)

Library and Information Sciences 70th anniversary committee is planning special events and awards.

Committee members left to right: Cindy Batman, Kathy Huber, Clarice Luce, Yvonne Chandler, Debby Jennings, Dean Herman Totten, Melody Kelly, Jurhee Curtis, Ana Cleveland, Jodi Philbrick, and Paula King, Margaret Nichols, center, serves as chair.

LIS will celebrate its 70th anniversary during 2009. In order to mark the occasion, there will be symposia and other professional programs presented on campus throughout the year. The fun time, however, will be at the Alumni Society dinner held during the annual TLA conference in Houston on April 2nd. The UNT-TLA dinner is known far and wide for being fun filled affairs unlike any other library school gathering, but this one may top them all. There will be some serious moments, but most of the evening's events will be entertaining. We need your help, in recommending your fellow alumni from all cities and states for the platinum and rising star awards. These prestigious awards offered by the Library and Information Sciences Alumni Society and the 70th Anniversary Committee will recognize state and national leaders in seven categories in the library and information professions who are graduates of the UNT/LIS program.
