Practicum Waiver

Requirements for students seeking practicum waiver:

• If you have prior work experience in a library or information setting, you are not required to take SLIS 5090. 
• To qualify for a waiver from SLIS 5090, you must have worked part-time or more in an appropriate setting for at least six months. 
• The work must include professional level duties and have been supervised by a library or information professional.
• Complete the Field Experience Request for Waiver Form and turn it into the SLIS Office.  This form must be completed and in the office prior to the end of the semester preceding the semester in which you are taking comprehensive exams.  To be eligible to take comps, you must either register for SLIS 5090 or have your waiver form accepted before the semester begins.
• You will be notified whether your experience meets requirements.
