Assistantships

Teaching Assistantships

  • Open to students in all concentrations
  • Computer proficiency required for some positions 
  • Includes in-state tuition for out-of-state residents, if twenty hours per week
  • To apply for an assistantship, e-mail your resume to slis@unt.edu

Teaching Fellowships

  • Open to Certificate of Advanced Studies (post-Master's) students and doctoral students in information science
  • Teaching skills, specific background required in some positions
  • Fifteen to  twenty hours per week; salary varies
  • Includes in-state tuition for out-of-state residents, if twenty hours per week

Graduate Library Assistantships

  • Open to students in all concentrations
  • Candidates should have appropriate skills and/or experience
  • Twenty hours per week for nine months
  • $ 9,600 for Master's students, Certificate of Advanced Studies (post-Master's) and Doctoral students
  • Includes in-state tuition for out-of-state residents (Request brochure for more information)

Graduate Library Assistantships Available

Graduate School Masters and Doctoral Fellowships

Academic Common Market
Residents of the 14 Southern states participating in the Academic Common Market, an interstate agreement for sharing uncommon programs, may be eligible to enroll in the School of Library and Information Sciences programs on an in-state tuition basis. To qualify a student must take at least one course on campus for the semester they wish to receive in-state tuition.  Further information on participation in the program and the requirements for eligibility are available from the state office for higher education in the applicant's home state or from the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies at http://www.cep.unt.edu/ACM.html.

UNT provides many other methods of assisting graduate students in financing their education. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more assistance http://essc.unt.edu/finaid/
