Health Science Center Begins Providing Continuing Education for Nurses
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Registered nurses will now have a local resource for enhancing their professional
knowledge and earning continuing education hours to maintain their licenses. The University of North Texas
Health Science Center's Continuing Medical Education office has achieved Approved Provider status through
the Texas Nurses Association, allowing the health science center to offer educational programs in nursing.
Agencies are awarded this status for two-years after demonstrating excellence in education design and
record keeping systems. Permission to grant continuing education hours marks the Texas Nurses
Association's recognition of the UNT Health Science Center as an agency committed to quality continuing
education for registered nurses.
The UNT Health Science Center's CME office serves 7,000 physicians and healthcare practitioners each
year. The health science center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
(ACCME) and the American Osteopathic Association to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
