Library Services

The University of North Texas Libraries offer a variety of services to assist your research and instructional needs. Our librarians are available to assist you in your research, whether it is a simple question or an in-depth thesis.  Our Ask A Librarian service allows you to contact a reference specialist via live chat, email, phone or in person. Workshops are also offered to teach you everything from the basics of how to effectively search for materials in the catalog or the electronic databases to more defined research in a particular subject area.

The UNT community is growing rapidly and as such, many of our patrons are physically removed from the materials they need; either as a distance education student or because they are studying at one of the remote campuses such as the Research Park Library or the UNT Dallas campus. To greater facilitate these student's research needs, the libraries offer a Material Delivery Service to those individuals who possess a need for delivered materials.

On the occasion that the UNT libraries do not own a particular item that is needed, we also have the ability to acquire these materials for our patrons' use via the Interlibrary Loan service. Using your current university ID, you can request and checkout materials held at other libraries from the UNT campus.

Facilities to make your research as efficient and pleasant as possible include photocopy machines, public computers, printing from most public terminals, quiet study rooms and even a cyber cafe where you can fuel up on snacks and hot or cold drinks.

We recognize that some of our customers have very specific needs and we have tried to address these on both the Web site, as well as in our buildings. Information geared for faculty, off-campus users, visitors and special needs patrons are all available.

But the libraries are not just serious books and hushed voices; our Outreach program offers fun events throughout the year for both the UNT community as well as local residents and guests to enjoy.
