UNT President Bataille elected regional representative of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- University of North Texas President Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille was elected as an Associate Member Regional Representative of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities during the Annual Associate Membership Meeting held in Denver, Colo., as part of HACU's annual conference.

Associate Member Regional Representatives serve for a two-year term from the time they are elected. Their primary responsibility is to actively participate and vote during the Annual Business Meetings of HACU's voting members, which are always held on the same day as the Annual Associate Membership Meetings.

Bataille's term is from October 2008 to October 2010.

The next Associate Membership and Annual Business Meetings will be held during HACU's 23rd Annual Conference, Oct. 31 – Nov. 2, 2009, in Orlando, Fla.

UNT is among the top 50 universities in the country for the graduation of African American and Hispanic students. Under President Bataille's leadership, the university set its 8th consecutive all-time high enrollment with 34,795 students now choosing UNT. As the university's first female president, Bataille has earned recognition for her achievements and for UNT's growing stature. The Dallas Business Journal named her as one of the 25 Most Influential Women in 2008.
