Legends are made in the fantasy playoffs. Matt Schaub stepped up while Brett Favre shrunk. Gregg Rosenthal has all the Week 14 impact.

 Josh Brown-K-RamsDec. 8 - 4:42 pm et
Rams coach Jim Haslett revealed Monday that Josh Brown injured his groin in practice last Thursday.
"He should be OK for the game (in Week 15), but he probably won’t kick much this week (in practice)," Haslett said. Brown shanked a 42-yard field goal attempt against Arizona Sunday. It was just his fifth miss of the season.

 Ray Rice-RB-RavensDec. 8 - 4:37 pm et
In his Monday press conference, Ravens coach John Harbaugh called Ray Rice "day to day" with a contusion in his lower leg.
"Everyone's day to day," Harbaugh said, laughing. He also confirmed that Willis McGahee suffered a stinger Sunday night. All members of the team's three-headed monster figure to be active for Week 15 against the Steelers.
 Gus Frerotte-QB-VikingsDec. 8 - 4:32 pm et
Updating a previous item, coach Brad Childress said Monday that Gus Frerotte (back) remains the Vikings' starting QB pending health.
At least Childress is being rational here. While Tarvaris Jackson was solid in relief Sunday, he was going against the 0-13 Lions and Frerotte still gives Minnesota its best chance to win, even if he isn't very good. The Vikings' quarterback situation is expected to be a game-time decision in Week 15.

 Vernon Davis-TE-49ersDec. 8 - 4:26 pm et
In his Monday press conference, 49ers coach Mike Singletary called Vernon Davis the "best blocking tight end I've ever seen."
Fresh off watching film of Sunday's win over the Jets, Singletary said Davis has no problems in the run game against either linebackers or defensive ends. It's nice that Vernon has become a useful player for San Francisco, but he has not developed as a pass catcher in coordinator Mike Martz's offense.
 Peyton Hillis-RB-BroncosDec. 8 - 4:13 pm et
Broncos placed RB Peyton Hillis on injured reserve with a torn hamstring, ending his season.
He tore the hammy "a few inches off the bone," Mike Shanahan revealed, and faces eight weeks of recovery. Hillis won't need surgery. Hillis ends his rookie year with 5.0 YPC average on 68 carries, six TDs, and 14 catches. He has a nice outlook as a future utility man, but probably not as a pure tailback. While Hillis will be in the mix for short-yardage carries in a potential 2009 committee for Denver, teams don't usually "feature" backs with limited speed and moves. His long-term ceiling in dynasty leagues is low.
 Carson Palmer-QB-BengalsDec. 8 - 4:09 pm et
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis confirmed that Carson Palmer (elbow) is not expected to play in Week 15.
Lewis said Palmer hasn't been medically cleared, but for now "the plan is not to have surgery" on the elbow. Palmer has been doing some light throwing recently from up to 25 yards. He is not expected to play again this season.

 Frank Gore-RB-49ersDec. 8 - 4:02 pm et
49ers coach Mike Singletary said Monday that Frank Gore (ankle) will be "evaluated through the week" and has not been ruled out for Week 15.
Singletary says activating Thomas Clayton from the practice squad is a possibility, indicating that the 49ers aren't banking on Gore to face Miami. Of Clayton, Singletary noted that coordinator "Mike Martz is a big fan of his."
