refusal day
found a pretty tight job post in my inbox. linux kernel developer with 10+ years of experience, c# and c++ skills. not over 30... good luck!
i guess i'll go and brush my App Engine MQ app to make it ready for open source release.
i've literally wasted 5 days of a 9-days-long holiday w/ working. it's not even morning here but i'm already up. this is simply wrong
amazon ec2 is now available in europe. but your european elegance comes with an 10% price offset.
semacode or QR codes? which one is popular? (as in distribution base) will be used for encoding vcards and urls.
my candidates for 2008 top open source disappointments; OpenOffice and Songbird. feature bloat resource hogs w/ miserable UI design failures
@crankycoder http://bit.ly/aMNY talks about java class unloading but you can dive into mailing list archives for deeper tech details.
@crankycoder that's deeply technical with jython internal tables but shortest way is to set 'internalTablesImpl' to 'weak' in registry.
@crankycoder in our case it's a long running monitor requiring class unloading within the lifecycle. jython leaks memory with load/unload.
@jasonwatkinspdx couldn't find a paper or equi on epoll design & implementation but here's kqueue's http://bit.ly/Ya1o (similar solution)
@jasonwatkinspdx not too familiar with linux kernel internals but know epoll is better because it attaches to event source and uses edge trg
SkyDrive's 25GB is generous but where's the bulk uploader for Mac?
@jasonwatkinspdx and btw, back to original problem, Varnish's design favors particular platforms. On OpenBSD (userland pth) it's a pain.
@jasonwatkinspdx blast tests v. real life load will always be different. 100K in 2m & Paul's blast tests are no doubt correct but realistic.
@jasonwatkinspdx spawning 100k in 2m is not cool when kernel crunches the cpu afterwards to make 1x1 scheduling. my xp with NPTL is bitter.
800 msgs/sec, 20mbps bw cap but hippo size xmlrpc msgs. oh hai protobuf savez the day! i can haz torrent w/ slack bw now. http://bit.ly/pbuf
mininova is going down repeatedly with db fail messages or a maintenance notification. should I blame @Scobleizer?
@jasonwatkinspdx, Paul's NIO vs threads test load employs blasters. but @stevej points out resource consumption w/ real world slow clients.
friendfeed upgrades its AWS S3 image bucket to a CloudFront CDB. a start-up which really cares about user experience from all perspectives.
