Medical Insurance
The American Heart Association provides eligible employees and their families several options for medical plan coverage, for which we pay a portion of the premium.  Employee premiums are also deducted on a pre-tax basis to further lower costs. If you have health coverage elsewhere, you may choose not to enroll and receive a medical opt-out credit.

Dental Insurance
The American Heart Association offers employees and eligible dependents a comprehensive dental plan that includes coverage for preventative, diagnostic services, as well as basic restorative and major services.  Most service areas will offer a large network of participating dentists.  The plan will provide the maximum benefit when you visit a network dentist.

Vision Insurance
The American Heart Association offers employees and eligible dependents a comprehensive vision plan that includes coverage for eye examinations and materials. Most service areas will offer a large network of participating providers.  The plan will provide the maximum benefit when you visit a network provider.

Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Take advantage of pre-tax dollars to pay eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses by enrolling in one or both of the American Heart Association’s Flexible Spending Accounts.

Retirement Savings Account
The American Heart Association offers all employees a tax-deferred retirement savings plan, with eligibility beginning on the first day of the month following their hire date.  After two years of qualified service, employees can participate in a 403b Plan from Vanguard and TIAA-CREF with immediate vesting.   The American Heart Association contributes a base amount of 6 percent of an employee’s salary and then matches employee contributions dollar for dollar — up to an additional 4 percent.

Employee Assistance Program
This program offers a range of services to assist employees and family members with stress, depression, child-rearing concerns, elder care issues, financial and legal services, and other family matters.

Paid Time Off (PTO)/Holidays
American Heart Association employees can initially earn up to 16 days per year of Paid Time Off (PTO) for vacation, personal time or illness not covered by disability.  We also have 12 scheduled paid holidays per year.

Disability
Long- and short-term disability coverage is available at no cost to eligible employees. This coverage supplements employees’ income if a non-work-related illness or injury prevents them from working.

Life/AD&D Insurance Plans
Basic life/accidental death and dismemberment coverage of two times your salary up to $300,000 is automatically available at no cost to eligible employees after 30 days of employment. Eligible employees may also purchase optional supplemental life insurance coverage for themselves, their spouse or eligible dependent children.
