Pondweed (Potomageton nodosus Poir.) is a submerged or floating plant common throughout the Great Plains in shallow areas of rivers, lakes, marshes, and ponds. The submerged leaves are narrow and often deteriorate before flowering, while the floating leaves are broader. Flowering occurs June-October.
