MYSTERY WRITER DANA STABENOW TO DISCUSS NEW BOOK AT LIBRARY OF CONGRESS ON JAN.10
Best-selling mystery writer Dana Stabenow will discuss her new book, "Blindfold Game: A Thriller," at the Library of Congress at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, in the Montpelier Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Memorial Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C.
A book signing will follow the presentation, which is sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of Mystery Writers of America, a Center for the Book reading promotion partner, is the co-sponsor. The program, which is free and open to the public, also is presented in cooperation with the Alaska Center for the Book. No tickets or reservations are needed.
Stabenow is the author of 20 novels and an acclaimed travel writer for Alaska magazine. An Alaska native who was raised on a 75-foot fish tender in the Gulf of Alaska, she currently resides in Anchorage. In 1993 she won the prestigious Edgar Award presented by Mystery Writers of America. Stabenow was featured in the Mysteries & Thrillers Pavilion at the 2004 National Book Festival.
Researching the "Blindfold Game," she spent 16 days patrolling the Pacific Ocean on board the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Alex Haley. She also reported daily about life aboard the ship on her interactive Web site.
