Speaker Biography: Virgina Driving Hawk Sneve was born and raised on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and is an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe. For 25 years, she was a teacher and counselor in public schools in South Dakota. Since 1972, she has published 20 books, numerous short stories, articles and poems. Her most recent book is "Granpa Was a Cowboy and an Indian and Other Stories." Sneve was a 2000 National Humanities Medalist, and she was named 1999 Author of the Year by South Dakota English Teachers. She lives in Rapid City, S.D
