Eric Geist, Guy Gelfenbaum, and Bruce Jaffe of CMG joined EHZ's
David Oppenheimer to present "Tsunami! Observations, Simulations, and the Hazards
to Coastal Communities" on the Menlo campus on December 10. Topics included:

disastrous July, 1998, tsunami in Papua
New Guinea
- Evidence of great ancient tsunamis in
the Pacific Northwest
- Lessons learned from past tsunamis
- How tsunami warning systems work
- Tsunami risk along the U.S. Pacific coast.
