Kobler: Completion of last major relocation convoy important step in peaceful closure of Camp Ashraf

Baghdad, 16 September  2012 – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Martin Kobler, today welcomed the news that the last major relocation convoy of residents from Camp Ashraf (Camp New Iraq) has arrived in Camp Hurriya.

UNAMI Calls for Moratorium on the Implementation of Death Penalty in Iraq

Baghdad, 31 August 2012 – UNAMI notes with concern that Iraq has once again implemented the death penalty. On Monday, 27 August, 21 people were executed. Three of them were women.  This was followed by the executions of five more persons, including two foreign nationals, as confirmed by the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday, 29 August.
