If you have a question that is not answered below, we encourage you to contact our Membership Department at membership@iedconline.org or (202) 223-7800.

What types of membership are available?
IEDC membership is organization-based – ranging from nonprofits to consultants and everything in between – with individual members acting as representatives of their organizations. As such, we only offer individual memberships for students and those who are retired or in between jobs. A complete list of membership categories and accompanying dues is available to view online.

Upon joining, when will my membership expire?
Your membership will expire one year from the date we receive and process your application. If you have questions about your membership status, please contact our Membership Department at membership@iedconline.org or (202) 223-7800.

When will I receive my new member kit, along with my username and password?
Expect your new member kit in the mail two to three weeks after IEDC receives your membership application with full payment. You can receive your Web site username and password within a week of payment processing by contacting our membership department at membership@iedconline.org.

Will my membership information be kept confidential?
Membership information collected by IEDC remains confidential. Your email or postal address may be sold or shared with our partners for marketing purposes, but you can opt out of having your addresses shared at any time by contacting our Membership Department.

My previous employer was a member of IEDC, but my current one is not. Can I transfer my membership?
Since memberships in IEDC apply to organizations – with individuals acting as representatives of these organizations – your membership cannot be transferred if you leave the member organization.

I am currently in between jobs. Is there a membership category that would apply to me?
Yes: the Retired/Between Jobs membership is available for an annual fee of $95. Your membership will last for one year, regardless of when or whether you find a new job. Once this year is up, however, the following conditions apply:

  • If you have not found a job, you may renew your membership as a Retired/Between Jobs member
  • If you have found a job, your employer must become a member of IEDC (with you as a representative), or your membership expires

I am retired and no longer active in the economic development profession. Can I still be a member?
Yes: the Retired/Between Jobs membership is available for an annual fee of $95.

I am currently a student. What types of documentation are acceptable to IEDC as proof?
The most convenient form of documentation is a photocopy of your current student ID. You can include this photocopy when you mail us your application. If you apply online, please fax a copy to (202) 223-4745, Attn: Membership Department.
