A Review of Wildlife Management Practices in North Dakota
Effects on Nongame Bird Populations and Habitats
This independent evaluation of wildlife management practices was conducted by an ad hoc committee of individuals with an interest in nongame wildlife. The team consisted of six individuals with diverse educations, experiences, and vocations, yet sharing a common interest in North Dakota's nongame wildlife resources, especially birds.
The idea for this effort was founded in the belief that there was a need to begin constructive dialogue between traditional wildlife managers and nongame proponents. We firmly believe that communication between the two groups is critically important if we are to succeed in our efforts on behalf of wildlife, whether it be game or nongame.
This endeavor was made possible through a grant from the Nongame Migratory Bird Program, Region 6, US Fish and Wildlife Service, along with additional financial assistance from the North Dakota Nongame Wildlife Program.
