Audio News Release Transcript — December 1, 2005

This is a message from the U.S. Department of Labor: Most workers in the United States are entitled to receive a wage of at least $5.15 for each hour worked. Most workers should also receive overtime pay if they work over 40 hours in a 7-day week. These laws are enforced by the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division and protect all workers. For help, you can call 1-866-4US-WAGE (1-866-487-9243). All calls are treated confidentially.

Employers can learn about federal labor laws on private work and on federal contracts by going to the Wage and Hour Web site at www.wagehour.dol.gov.
