What are Supply Chain activities?

The "supply chain" is the series of activities and processes among manufacturers, wholesalers, transportation firms, retailers, and their customers, as products and services are distributed through our economy.

Why are we asking about supply chain activities?

The supply chain is important because these activities have enabled businesses to operate much more efficiently. Understanding these activities -- who uses them and who performs them -- will allow better understanding of productivity increases in our nation's economy.

Which industries will we ask to report about supply chain activities?

We will include the question about supply chain activities on forms sent to manufacturing, wholesale, retail, transportation, and logistics management businesses.

What will we ask?

The supply chain item asks for checkbox responses to identify whether businesses perform or outsource particular activities.
