Federal Trade Commission Decisions

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) now provides actions from 1969 – 2005 on its Website, including documents previously available to the public only in print format. These volumes contain documents such as opinions, final orders, complaints, and consent orders that result from negotiated consent agreements, as well as all initial decisions issued by Administrative Law Judges in administrative trial proceedings.

Until recently, Federal Trade Commission Decisions Volumes 75 – 128 (1969 – 1999) were available to the public only in print, while volumes 129 – 140 (2000 – 2005) are only available electronically. The print volumes (75 – 128) do not include copies of the detailed explanations, which the FTC issues whenever it accepts an administrative consent agreement for public comment. In contrast, volumes 129-140 (available electronically) include these analyses in immediate proximity to the consent order documents they describe.

You can browse by volume (further broken down by page numbers), or use the full text search capability in the upper right corner of the page. Full-text search instructions are provided at the bottom of the page. To locate FTC actions from 1995 to current, visit the FTC’s Formal Actions page.

Future FTC Decisions Volumes will also include FTC analyses, and will be posted online semiannually. In addition, volumes 1-74 (1914 – 1968) will also be posted online.

For further information about FTC legal resources, visit the Legal Resources - Profile of the Office of General Counsel page. See in particular the links on the upper left side of the page for Amicus Briefs, Statutes Enforced by FTC, and FTC Rules.
