The U.S. Department of Defense will participate in Eurosatory 2000 International Land Defense Equipment Exhibition in Paris, France, June 19-23, 2000. Various models of U.S. military equipment and approximately 50 support personnel from bases in Europe and the U.S. are scheduled to attend.
Equipment scheduled for static display at the show includes: M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank, M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle, M977 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Transporter Truck, M1084 Truck, M56 Mobile Smoke Generator, Melios Laser Range Finder, AN/TSQ 179 Common Ground Station, and a Land Warrior System demonstration. U.S. military personnel attending the show will provide maintenance and administrative support services.
U.S. military participation contributes to a number of U.S. security and foreign policy interests. Participation promotes standardization and interoperability of equipment with our NATO allies and other potential coalition partners, highlights the strength of the U.S. commitment to security in Europe, and demonstrates that U.S. industry is producing equipment that will be critical to the success of military operations in the future. DoD participation demonstrates the U.S. government's commitment to actively defend the security of Europe, and contributes to the spirit of cooperation embodied by Partnership for Peace and multi-national operations.
