Occupational Outlook Handbook TutorialThis tutorial will discuss how to retrieve information contained in the Occupational Outlook Handbook. The Handbook provides detailed information about hundreds of occupations covering nine out of ten jobs in the economy. For each occupation, the Handbook highlights key occupational characteristics and includes sections about earnings, projected employment changes, the nature of the work, typical working conditions, and requirements for entry. To search the handbook, start by clicking on the Publications tab near the top of the BLS homepage. Scroll down to the "Career Guides" section, and click on the Occupational Outlook Handbook link. Next, scroll down to the Ways to use the Occupational Outlook Handbook site section. You can use the Search box to find out about a particular occupation or topic or you can browse through the site using the occupation links that are on the left side of each page. We will choose from the listing of all occupations in alphabetical order. Using "Lawyer" as an example, click on the letter "L" Next, click on the occupation labeled "Lawyers" You can now choose from the list of characteristics that are available for this occupation.
