Energy Policy Act of 2005 and Your GSA Contract |
Section
104 of the Energy Policy Act (EPACT) of 2005 established requirements
for Federal agencies regarding ENERGY STAR qualified products and the
Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) for
energy-efficient products. Federal
buyers will be required to purchase only product categories covered by the
ENERGY STAR and FEMP programs, unless an exception is obtained.
It
is important for your company to properly identify all ENERGY STAR products and
products that meet FEMP purchasing specifications for energy efficient
products. Your contract also includes
the requirement to identify these products in your printed and electronic
catalogs.

Multiple Award Program Schedules and Special Item Numbers that are affected by
the new Act.

Update your GSA Advantage! product
information to accurately represent the environmental attributes associated
with each product under your contract

Review clause GSAR 552.238-72 concerning
the identification of products that have environmental attributes and where to
obtain information about the use of environmental marketing claims.
