Management Positions

Occasionally, NCEE has management position openings. Though such positions may also fall under the one of the other job titles below, to highlight the management or supervisory nature of the position, information on any open positions is available on our Current Management Openings page.

Economist Positions

NCEE typically recruits economists at the ASSA and AAEA annual meetings. NCEE also considers applications for two-year research assistant positions. Applicants should have an M.S. or Ph.D. in economics, or anticipate defending before employment would begin. Benefit-cost analysis skills and research experience in environmental, natural resource, agricultural or related applied microeconomics fields are required. Open research and policy analysis subjects include: direct and indirect methods of valuing benefits to human health and ecological services; costs of regulatory compliance; and information-based and economic-incentive programs. Salaries are competitive. U.S. citizenship is required. EPA is an equal opportunity employer. Information on any open positions is available on our Current Economist Openings page.

Environmental Health Scientist Positions

NCEE's Innovation and Emerging Challenges Division recruits candidates interested in conducting original research in environmental health issues that informs policy development at EPA. Examples of our recent work include: America's Children and the Environment, EPA's report on indicators of children's environmental health; epidemiological studies of air pollution and human health effects; a national evaluation of public health risks from ambient air toxics; and analyses of exposures to pesticides. Our work has been published in journals such as The Lancet, Environmental Health Perspectives, Risk Analysis, and Environmental Research. These positions also provide opportunities to advise senior-level EPA officials on important health and science policy issues at the Agency. We typically seek applicants who have completed or are nearing completion of a Masters or Ph.D. in toxicology, epidemiology, risk assessment or biostatistics. Environmental health scientists with several years of experience are also invited to apply. Salaries are competitive. U.S. citizenship is required. EPA is an equal opportunity employer. Information on any open positions is available on our Current Environmental Health Openings page.
