Dendroecology

By studying annual growth rings of trees, scientists can infer much about the conditions in which a tree has grown. Researchers use dendrochronological techniques to assess the effects of hurricanes, fires, hydrological alteration, and other ecological disturbances on the growth and health of forested wetlands.
