Public Participation & NEPA Compliance
on Public Lands in Montana and the Dakotas
NEW--Revised NEPA Handbook (3.2 mb)
The decision-making process for public lands administered by BLM is conducted in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). Your participation in the management of your public lands is important, and we hope you'll find this area of our website a useful tool to help you get involved.
To enhance our customer service we are working to provide timely notice of all of our current NEPA documents on our web site. When offered, public comment periods are initiated through official notifications (i.e., direct mailing, local and/or state newspapers, Federal Register notices). However, interested publics are also encouraged to check this site frequently to ensure adequate time for comment on specific NEPA documents, especially in the case of projects without a planned formal public comment period (see 7th and 8th columns of NEPA logs) where direct contact with the project contact may be warranted. You may also wish to contact the BLM field office of interest and request to have your name added to a mailing list if you would like to receive direct mailings from the field office.
