Assistant Secretary Rocca Travel to South Asia

Assistant Secretary for South Asian Affairs Christina Rocca visited Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh  May 11-18, 2004.  Assistant Secretary Rocca met with Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri on May 12 and called on President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. A discussion on bilateral relations, regional issues and the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq took place.

While in Pakistan, the Assistant Secretary Rocca also visited the USAID sponsored projects in Chitral.  While in Sri Lanka she met with a variety of government officials, political leaders, non-governmental groups, and private individuals to discuss bilateral and regional issues. She also made a brief visit to Trincomalee.  [photo gallery]
