Afghan Women's Council
February 2004 A high-level team of public and private executives led by U.S. Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky and the Senior Coordinator for International Women's Issues, Charlotte Ponticelli (pictured, far right) was in Kabul February 24-26, 2004 for the fourth meeting of the U.S.-Afghan Women's Council. The Council was hosted by Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Abdollah and Minister for Women's Affairs Habiba Sarabi. In meetings and on site visits Council participants focused on education for women, literacy, health care, micro-finance, job training and job placement for Afghan women. The U.S. delegation, in addition to Paula Dobriansky and Charlotte Ponticelli, included Karen Hughes, advisor to U.S. President George W.
