SUTIN TO HEAD OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General Janet Reno has appointed L. Anthony Sutin to serve as the Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legislative Affairs at the Department of Justice.
Sutin, whose appointment became effective on Monday, will be responsible for overseeing the Department's liaison efforts with Congress, including legislative and oversight matters.
Sutin, 38, has previously served as Deputy Associate Attorney General, and as Deputy Director and General Counsel for the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. That office administers the multibillion dollar "COPS" program aimed at placing 100,000 additional police officers on the nation's streets.
Before joining the government, Sutin was a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Hogan & Hartson, where he specialized in civil litigation.
Sutin is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Brandeis University. He lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Margaret M. Lawton, and their son.
