WASHINGTON, DC -- Attorney General Janet Reno will host the first-ever meeting of her counterparts from The Eight -- a group of the world's major industrialized democracies -- to discuss issues of transnational crime, including high-tech crime. The two-day meeting of Justice and Interior Ministers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada, France and Russia will focus on ways in which the countries can work together to locate criminals who use new technologies and ensure that there are no safe havens for cyber-criminals.

The press conference is open to all media, however pre-registration is requested.
Translation: The press conference will be simultaneously translated into German, French, Japanese, Italian and Russian. Mult boxes providing feeds for each language will be available.
Press Entrance: 10th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and E Street. All equipment, including TV cameras must be screened through x-ray machine. Electronic media should arrive between 1:15-2:00 pm. Print media and reporters without equipment should arrive between 1:45 and 2:15 pm.
Registration: Reporters wishing to cover the press conference should send a request by fax to the Department of Justice Press Office on letterhead with the names of each member of the press planning to attend.
