Sam Fox was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium on April 11, 2007 by Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte.
A businessman from St. Louis, Missouri, Ambassador Fox is founder, Chairman and CEO of Harbour Group Ltd, a very successful private operating company that specializes in the acquisition, development and operation of high-quality companies. Ambassador Fox has long been extremely active in civic affairs in St. Louis. He has contributed extensively to cultural, educational and charitable institutions in the city. These have included the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the Saint Louis Science Center, Civic Progress, the Boy Scouts, the Saint Louis Art Museum and the United Way. He has also been a strong supporter of Washington University in St. Louis, serving as a Trustee and as Chairman of the Campaign for Washington University. In 2006, the University dedicated the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts in honor of his service. Ambassador Fox has received numerous awards, including Honorary Doctorate of Public Service from Saint Louis University, Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Washington University, the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship and St. Louis Citizen of the Year. Ambassador Fox was born and raised in Desloge, Missouri. He graduated from Washington University and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Released on April 18, 2007 |
