GRB041217: The First GRB Located On-Board Swift!

December 17, 2004

On Dec 17 2004, 7:28:30 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and located on-board an apparent gamma-ray burst. The spacecraft did not autonomously slew to the burst since automated slewing is not yet enabled. The Swift team released a GCN circular describing the observation. Follow-up ground-based observations have also been reported.

For all GCN GRB Observation Reports on this burst, visit the GCN Circular archive for GRB041217.
