Cyberchase
Thirteen/WNET's Emmy-award-winning "Cyberchase," a mystery-adventure cartoon, is
a vehicle for teaching mathematics and problem-solving, with action
centering around three kids and their sidekick Digit (voiced by
Gilbert Gottfried). The kids use mathematics to foil the dastardly
villain Hacker (voiced by Christopher Lloyd) in his quest to take
over the virtual universe. During their travels, they encounter
new characters who are voiced by special guests such as Jane Curtin, Jasmine
Guy and Al Roker. Extensive research into how kids learn and apply
mathematics guides the program's content. Now reaching a
cumulative audience of nearly 5 million viewers each week, "Cyberchase"
is among the top-rated PBS KIDS afternoon programs.
On June 15, 2007, Cyberchase won the Daytime Emmy Award for children's programming distributed via broadband and portable media players. This is the first year the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized outstanding programming distributed by the Internet, cell phones and personal media players.
