Gaia 3 is the Windows application for accessing, visualizing and sharing location content. Gaia 3 lets you seamlessly access and use a vast array of location content and services from your Windows desktop – including Microsoft Virtual Earth, Yahoo! Maps, Google Earth KML/KMZ, OGC GML, ESRI Shapefiles, OGC WMS, WFS, WCS services and more.
Gaia 3 was developed with CarbonTools PRO, an extension to Microsoft .NET Framework that supports advanced location content handling, mapping and sharing. Software developers can get the Gaia 3 source code by purchasing CarbonTools PRO.

- Microsoft Virtual Earth? Google Earth? No Problem - Gaia 3 lets you use the location content you want. Microsoft Virtual Earth, Yahoo! Maps, Google Earth KML/KMZ, OGC GML, WMS, WFS and WCS, ESRI Shape, Autodesk and MapInfo formats and more are all supported.
- Includes Open API - Gaia 3.2 includes an open API to allow developers to modify and enhance the application. The Gaia Extenders API allows programmers to develop enhancements to Gaia with or without CarbonTools PRO. Any developer can follow a simple set of API rules and drop the extension assembly in the Gaia folder. When Gaia starts it recognizes and implements the extender automatically.
- Create and share your own Notes - Gaia 3 lets you create and customize your own geospatial Notes with text and pictures. You can even use geotagged pictures in your Notes.
- Make your own map symbols - Gaia 3 makes it easy to create meaningful maps, and includes tools to create your own map symbols. Gaia 3 also includes some of the most powerful GML symbology currently available.
- Save your work offline and share your maps - Once you’ve created your multi-layer map and Notes you can save your work as geospatial session files (GSFs) and go “offline” with all types of location content - you can even send them to your friends.
- Get time-based updates - New temporal controls let you get time-based updates for your GML content and other sources.
