Citizen Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

American Heart Association logoEarly on in the history of the Medic One System, it became very apparent that the most important component of the system would be you. Citizen participation is a crucial element in cardiac arrest survivability.

Studies from the Seattle Medic One System proved that patients who received CPR started by a bystander had a greater chance for survival than those who did not. Since that time the Medic One System has been training the citizens of Seattle and King County in CPR in an effort to reduce the death rate of people who suffer sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Because of these efforts Seattle and King County have one of the best resuscitation rates in the world. Without you this would not be possible.

To obtain or update your CPR training in the City of Seattle contact Medic II at 206-684-7274 or click here to visit their website.

The Medic II Program, along with the Medic I Foundation, sponsored a Children's Awareness Week in EMS at the Pacific Science Center. More than 20,000 young people learned about CPR techniques and about pre-hospital care activities that are available to all of our citizens.

To obtain or update your CPR training in the rest of King County, you can contact your local fire department or the local American Red Cross.
