"As our students and teachers return to the classroom after the holidays, education remains a top priority for my Administration.
My supplemental budget plan includes more than $127 million in new spending for the University of Hawai`i system.
I am also proposing an additional $40 million to renovate existing school facilities statewide, while planning for new schools in growing communities.
This past week, I released over $14 million for the improvements and upkeep of public schools statewide, including funds for a new gym at Pahoa High on the Big Island, a culinary arts room at Radford High on O`ahu and a new cafeteria at Lahainaluna High on Maui.
Providing our public schools and University with safe, modern and productive learning environments will ensure the future success of our students and our entire state."
