"The New Year brings many new opportunities for your personal and professional lives, as well as for your state government. 

As you address your New Year's resolutions, know that Governor Lingle and I, and our entire Administration, are working day in and day out to continue improving the quality of life for all the people of Hawai`i.
 
The 2008 legislative session, which begins January 16th, will be a time of positive change for our state.  Our Administration will be proposing legislation to help reduce the cost of living, better protect our natural and cultural resources, increase safety on our highways, and continue a critical shift of our economy through the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative.
