Save a life: Slightly used car seat donations accepted on Saturday

Monday, October 6, 2008

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - Wipe the dust off your used car seat and make a huge difference in the life of a low-income pregnant mom. This Saturday in Bellevue, King County is sponsoring an event to collect slightly used car seats for pregnant mothers. Car seats are a proven lifesaver, and over 400 children's lives are saved each year nationally due to child restraint use.

Car donation event
Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bellevue Fire Station #9, located at 12412 SE 69th Way, Bellevue

Sponsored by the Emergency Medical Services Division of Public Health - Seattle & King County, the collection effort focuses on car seats that meet the following standards:

  • You are the original owner
  • Seat less than 6 years old
  • Never in a collision
  • Harness straps not machined washed
  • Not on the recall list (visit www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/childseat.cfm)
  • Has all parts and in working order
  • Has the manufacturer's instructions

Qualified car seat technicians will be on hand to ensure the seats meet the criteria.

We will only accept car seats that meet the above criteria. If your seat does not meet the criteria, you must dispose of them yourself.
