Hurricane Ridge Road
A major reconstruction project began on April 21, 2008 and will continue through mid-November. Traffic delays will begin in early May. Read more.

Storm Damage Recovery
Many roads and facilities throughout the park were damaged by heavy rain, flooding and high winds during a severe storm in December 2007.

Quinault Graves Creek Road
In the Quinault Valley, the Graves Creek Road and Campground are open to pedestrian, stock and bicycle access only. An environmental assessment to address long-term repairs to this road will be released for public comment in late summer 2008.

For more information about summer access and activities, check the News section of our website.

Seasonal Closures -- Some park roads and facilities close for the winter season, including the Staircase, Deer Park and Obstruction Point roads.

Above average (165% of average!) snowpack this year has led to delayed openings for some of the park's high-elevation roads. The Obstruction Point remain closed as of early July. Check here for updates.

Dosewallips
The Dosewallips Road remains closed by a washout 3.5 miles outside the park boundary. The park's Dosewallips Campground is open, with pit toilets only and no potable water. There is a 5.5 mile walk to the campground from the road closure.

As the washout is located within Olympic National Forest, the U.S. Forest Service is working with the Federal Highways Administration to prepare a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) that will address the future of this road.

Hood Canal Bridge Closure -- May 2009
Starting in May 2009, the Hood Canal Bridge will be closed to traffic for six weeks as crews replace the east-half floating sections and transition trusses on both ends of the bridge.

The Hood Canal Bridge is a major transportation link to the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park. More info and trip planning advice.
